Direct Weather Winter Forecast: Here’s What Winter 2019/20 Will Look Like…

WeatherBrains | | Post Tag for WeatherWeather

Winter’s coming! It’s less than 100 days now until lifts start turning across the country, but the burning question we all want to be answered is: how much will it snow next winter?

Check out the video from Direct Weather, who give their breakdown of where there will be snow, and where there won’t.

Tl;dr:

  • West isn’t looking too great, California will be moderately warmer and drier than normal, and west of the Rockies slightly warmer and drier. This is due to the fact that El Niño is dead.
  • Looks like Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming will have a pretty average winter.
  • East coast is where it’s at next winter, apparently. Above-average precipitation coupled with below-average temperatures is looking good for moderately above-average snowfall.

  1. I’m not looking forward to winter in WV this year.. Above average precipitation, below average temps, and according to the maps, the ‘worst of winter’. I may pack up and head to Florida!

  2. HEY! GOT A PARTICULARLY UNUSUAL AREA TO POSSIBLY EXAMINE. THE KENTUCKY LAKE AND LAKE BARKLEY REGION. I’VE HEARD IT REFERRED TO AS A ” MICRO CLIMATE “. I’VE SEEN VERY UNUSUAL WEATHER SINCE LIVING IN 3 LOCATIONS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY. ON APRIL 12 OF 2004 OR 2005 A VERY INTENSE LOW PRESSURE WAS OVER THE GREAT LAKES. THAT MORNING WE HAD 5 INCHES OF WET SNOW FROM A LONG BAND OF LAKE AFFECT SNOW OFF OF LAKE MICHIGAN THAT EXTENDED TO THE FOOT HILLS OF NASHVILLE TENNESSEE. THAT REGION RECEIVED UP TO 9 INCHES. I’VE SEEN SUPER CELLS COMING NORTH EAST HIT KENTUCKY LAKE AND CONVECTION EXPLODES INTO LAKE AFFECT DELUGES WHEN PAST BOTH LAKES. IN THE APRIL SNOW, MY BROTHER LIVED IN OWASSO, MICHIGAN. HE WAS TRIPPING OVER THE STRANGE PHENOMENON. ALSO SAME DAY WE BOTH SQW ” FORESTS AFFECT SNOW OVER HOOSIER NATIONAL FOREST IN INDIANA COUNTIES ABOVE THE OHIO RIVER. CHECK IT OUT. PRETTY INTERESTING AREA FOR FELLOW WEATHER FANATIC. I GUESS LIKE A P.S. I HAVE WITNESSED 5 TORNADOES IN.MY.60 YEARS OF LIVING. FIRST WAS ON GREYHOUND BUS AT 8 YEARS OLD. FIRST PERSON TO SPOT IT IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. LIT A FIRE IN MY … HEAD AND IT BEEN BURNING EVER SINCE. BYE.. KEEPING MY EYE TO THE SKY!

  3. Please mama nature, sense my mammalian wish and let the south (namely Saint Louis MO) get some nice low temperatures soon, so my Coolbot can do its thing.

  4. Knoxville, TN. Good luck 😉 Between the valley and the plateau, no one ever knows for sure around here.

    1. Thanks for winter forecast. Like to know what is ahead. I am disabled and housebound. Like to stock canned goods when facing a bad winter. Located in the Mohawk Valley, approx 45 miles west of Albany.

  5. Might be a very good duck season if this forecast holds true. Waiting for the next forecast. Thanks Kenny A

  6. Very interesting info. Thank you.
I am located 41 miles east of the Mill Mountain Star/Blue Ridge Parkway. Just wondering which side of the worst of average line we are on.
