Lake Tahoe, CA got its first snowfall of the 2014/15 winter season today.  Tahoe saw about 6 inches of new snow up high and then it cleared up enough for people to get these great photos.  This posts holds all the photos of today’s new snow in Tahoe that we could find.  All photos in this post are from today.

The clearing won’t last long, however, as a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Tahoe region with an additional 5 inches of snow forecasted today before 11pm.

Tahoe lovers are fiending for snow.  They haven’t been truly satisfied since April 2011.  Just this small September snowstorm has got us a bit freaked out.

Questions are rattling through our brains like rocks down an old, empty well:

Is this a good sign for the winter to come?

Will it snow in Tahoe this year?

Will I break even or make money on my season pass this year?

The answer to all these questions is clear:

Who knows?

In the meantime, we can be happy that it snowed and be happy that winter is coming.  Part of what makes our sport so great is the uncertainy it provides.  Because if it does get good and you do have fun, you’re gonna have a whole helluva lotta fun because you weren’t able to see that fun coming.

  1. Bee – Uuuu- Tuff- Full….

This moisture- delivery system has been a two-fer. Besides making mountains look pretty, raining for the 3rd time on the King Fire this afternoon (rain during a drought in September is a miracle!) will knock the smoke down even more. It might even be OUT before Halloween ! This is a much better scenario than the dreadful one of watching the Feds building the World’s Longest Containment Line, and backfiring every day, until everyone from Roseville to Reno had COPD…. all of us downwind, upwind, sidewind, backwind of The Beast are now literally carrying the cremated Tahoe Forest in our lungs, everywhere we go.

Got an opinion? Let us know...
