18-Year-Old Climber Dies After Taking Photo & Posting It To Social Media on Boulder, CO’s Flatirons

An 18-year-old climber died after taking a photo and posting it on social media while climbing the 1st Flatiron in Boulder, CO on Sunday.

Another climber discovered the body and alerted authorities.  Medics responded, but the climber was deceased by the time they had arrived due to severe trauma suffered in the fall.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the image that the deceased climber posted on social media showed the 1st Flatiorn.

A mountain climber died after falling of the “Knife’s Edge” on 14,137′ Capital Peak, CO last Wednesday.  Another climber died on Capital Peak, CO on July 16th.

There have been 5 climbing deaths on CO’s 14,000-foot-peaks this year.
