33 powder days in a row…

From August 7th to September 8th 2017, we saw 33 powder days in a row in and around Cerro Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina.  This happens to be the exact window we recommend to people to scoring powder in South America.

It was one of the best stretches of powder skiing of my life.

We saw it all:  snorkel deep snow, fast snow, wind-buffed snow, dry snow, wet snow, sticky snow, wind-pressed snow, blower powder, big wind, light wind, no wind, tree skiing, alpine skiing, cliff hucking…

It was insane.  It was unreal.  It left me completely exhausted to the point where I had to spend one entire day on the couch doing nothing.  Very few times in my life have I been that tired and that happy at the same time.

Spring has sprung beginning today and there is nothing but warm temps and sun forecast for the next 10 days and we’re absolutely ok with that.

In this post, I’m sharing all the best photos and videos from our incredible 33 powder days in a row in Patagonia.

My Favorite 7-Days of the Season So Far:

  • August 15 & 19th:  Deep-powder-tree-ski-hucking in the best tree skiing on Earth

  • August 22nd:  One of the deepest days I’ve had anywhere.

  • August 24th:  Hucking into deep, creamy tree powder and skiing fast

  • August 25th:  Sun, powder, air, big lines, and no one out!

  • August 28th:  Deep, dry, stable backcountry snow – we did 3 big laps in the bc this day that were all unreal.

  • September 4th:  Dream line with a backflip!

  1. Miles, I was skiing Cerro Catedral from the 29th to the 7th. I had a great time, but I didn’t get consecutive powder days. Conditions were pretty good, but lets not over-state it.

    1. Hey Jake, ah yes, I hear you. That’s why I put ‘in and around’. Many of those days we used the lifts of Catedral to get deep in the backcountry and the snow was unreal!

So stoked you were here for it!
