Scuba much? Skier: Teton Brown

Jackson Hole received 34 inches of snow last week creating some of the best conditions the resort has seen all season. With the majority of the snow falling mostly in a short period, skiers and riders in Jackson woke up one morning to a 17 inch pow day with face shots a plenty. The rest of the past week saw continued snowfall with a little wind to buff things out making it possibly the best week of skiing Jackson has seen all season.

Teton Brown is not pizzaing when he is suppose to french fry, so he is going to have a good time.

With a base of 88 inches the new snowfall meant game on in Jackson. It’s mid season and lines have filled in quite nicely, (including the seldom open Atla Zero which opened today)! Bomb holes are around the cliff bottoms, and the alpine’s cragginess has gotten a nice, heavy blanket of the white powder covering it. Old timers around these parts will tell you when the base hits 100 inches the mountain is pretty much as good as it gets, and we are pretty much there!

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

Weekend Schedule in Teton Village

There is a lot going on this weekend in Jackson! The legendary Powder 8’s competition is  being held for the first time in over a decade  in Cody Bowl on Saturday weather permitting. You can watch it from the top of the tram and Rendezvous Bowl. You can get a closer view by going to the bottom of Cody Bowl, but please realize that this is an out of bounds area and not patrolled by ski patrol. So have avalanche gear and know where you are going, there are large unmarked cliff areas, and recently there have been many instances of unprepared people getting seriously hurt, and there have even been fatalities not far from where the competition will be.

Ski Joring looking as exciting as it looks sketchy.

Also Ski Joring (where a skier is pulled by horse through an obstacle course), will being going on starting at 1:00 Saturday and Sunday right across from Teton Village and is always an exciting event!

The forecast is calling for a little bit of snow over the next few days followed by mostly sunny skies the rest of the week. With a thick base covering the mountain the resort the sunny skies will be a great time to explore the mountain. The groomers have been grooming runs that you don’t normally see cord on, and if your still looking for pow you can hire a Jackson Hole Resort Mountain guide to show you around the resorts famed backcountry.
