8,736′ Ebbetts Pass (hwy 4), CA is OPEN

8,736-foot Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4 in California opened on April 18th, 2014, then closed for the storms last week.  It reopened on Monday.

We haven’t gotten any reports from Ebbetts Pass yet.  We imagine that the skiing is still good up there, but the pass is slightly lower than Tioga and Sonora leading us to believe that there’s likely a bit less snow on Ebbetts, at least at pass level.

Don’t mistaken, though.  Ebbetts has great ski terrain.  We know a Tahoe local ripper who named his son after Ebbetts Pass.  Ebbett is a cool name.

I grew up camping on Ebbetts Pass in the summer and just hearing the name Ebbetts still throws me into childhood reverie.

Right now, Ebbetts Pass is open, Sonora Pass is open, and Tioga Pass is open to the pass from the East.
