Holy Schnoogles!

Alyeska ski resort in Girdwood, AK has already gotten over 500″ of snowfall this season.  They broke 500″ yesterday when they received their 502nd inch.

Today, they are sitting at 509 inches of snowfall this season.  509″, and it’s only February 8th…

They’re also sitting on the 4th deepest snowpack in North America at 146″.

They broke 400″ just 20  days ago on January 18th!  That’s over 100 inches of new snow in 20 days.

Alyeska is the only ski resort in North America with over 500″ of snowfall this season and most likely the only ski resort on Earth to have broken 500″ of snowfall this season.  Alyeska has been leading the snowfall totals in North America nearly the entire season this year.

Only one other ski resort in all of North America even has 400″ this season:  Mt. Baker ski area.  No one else has broken 400″ in North America.  There aren’t even that many in the 300″ club yet…

Alyeska averages 650″ of snowfall on the upper mountain and 512″ of snowfall at mid-mountain.  Mind you, the top of the mountain is only 2,750’…  This place gets big big snow.  Their biggest year on record was 2012 when they got 978″ of snowfall.

If there was ever a year to head up to Alaska, this is the year.
