Today was another wind buff powder day at Cerro Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina.
The mountain was closed (more or less) yesterday due to wind. We just went through a wild cycle of rain to the top, 24 hours of powerful winds, and about 6″ of snow at the end. The snow at the end came with very cold temperatures. Temps were in the low 20s today all day in brilliant sunshine.
We had 3 special things happen today:
- The Nubes chair (best chair on the hill) was open despite bitter winds and frigid temps
- There were absolutely no lines at the Nubes chair today
- Temperatures stayed extremely cold today (definitely one of the coldest days I’ve had here)
The snow was wind buff, but blower smoke on Nubes and in La Laguna today. Everywhere else we sampled was dust on crust and the ice layer underneath was bulletproof.
Tomorrow will be a great day in the sidecountry and backcountry here in Bariloche.
Be safe out there.
Forecast is for sun and cold temps all week. Should be a great week.
The last two days have been incredible up top! Cold smoke face shots on nubes with hardly anyone around!!!!!
