Cardrona Ski resort has been open for two weeks now. The season started off very well with all lifts running on opening day but unseasonably warm temperatures and some rain has resulted in thin coverage. Several trails are currently closed and Valley view chairlift has also closed until there is more snow.

The groomers have been working hard moving snow every night to maintain good coverage on the main runs. Queenstown return, Weston’s trail,  Goldrush and Highway 89 are being very well kept up.

The main park Stags lane remains open and is begin kept in excellent shape. The intermediate jump line also remains open and is regularly maintained. Recently added is the Li’l Buck’s beginner park with 4 smaller box/rail features and a small jump.

Treble Cone and Coronet peak have been forced to close this week due to lack of Snow. The Remarkables remains open, it’s higher elevation and aspect mean it hasn’t lost as much snow over the past few weeks.

The future looks brighter though; today Cardrona received a small amount of snow, there’s a about 5cm forecast for tonight, and cold temperatures for a few days which should allow for more snowmaking.
