Crystal Mountain ski resort in Washington state re-opens for the season today with the Mt. Rainier Gondola and Green Valley Express today.  Beginning tomorrow, Crystal will expand their terrain greatly by add in the Chinook Express, Forest Queen Express & Rainier Express.  They’re even talking about a possible Chair 6 opening on Wednesday.

Crystal had opened earlier this month, but warm temperatures, unfrozen precipitation, and the evil Pineapple Express resulted in Crystal closing again to wait for better conditions.  Those better conditions are here now after 19″ of new snow fell in the past 3 days.

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN OPENING DAY DETAILS:

OPERATIONS FOR MONDAY DEC. 22:
Lifts: Mt. Rainier Gondola & Green Valley Express
Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (last download on the gondola is 4:00 p.m.)
Lift Rates: $35 ages 7+, $5 ages 6 and under
Food & Beverage: Summit House & Mountain Market
Lessons & equipment rentals will not be available until Tuesday

The last upload on the gondola for skiing is 3:00 p.m.  Last chair on Green Valley is 3:30 p.m.  Last download on the gondola is 4:00 p.m.  Foot-passengers are welcome to take a scenic ride on the gondola anytime it’s open this winter!  Scenic gondola rates apply.

OPERATIONS STARTING TUESDAY DEC. 23 & BEYOND:
Lifts:
Mt. Rainier Gondola, Green Valley Express, Chinook Express, Forest Queen Express & Rainier Express – Chair 6 will be evaluated for a possible opening on Wednesday.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Lift Rates: TBD
Food & Beverage:
Summit House, Mountain Market, Bullwheel & Cascade Grill (Campbell Basin Lodge will open starting Wednesday)

What does “Limited Operations” mean?
It means we are not 100% open and hours and services are limited.   The Mt. Rainier Gondola will operate for access to Green Valley as well as for sightseers and access to the Summit House restaurant. All operations are always weather and conditions permitting and can change without notice.

Special Notices:
– We do NOT have any beginner lifts or terrain open at this time.
– Lessons, rentals and demo equipment are NOT available until Tuesday
– Grooming will be limited
– Unmarked hazards do exist – Ski/ride with caution.
