The Denver – Winter Park weekend ski train will run again this winter (2016/17) after a 7-year absence.  From 1940 until 2009, the ski train carried thousands of skiers from Denver’s Union Station to the slopes of Winter Park ski resort, CO.

In March 2015, Winter Park and Amtrak did a trial run of the ski train and fully sold out two weekends of train trips.  They sold over 800 $75 roundtrip, one-day tickets between Denver and Winter Park.  The success of this campaign lead to track owner Union Pacific allowing regular weekend service this winter.
