The European Alps got snow today.  Snow levels were low for this time of year around 1100 meters (3,600 ft).  Lower elevation zones got around 5-10cms (2-4in) of new snow.  Higher elevations got around 15cms (6in) and the highest elevations likely got much more.

The forecast for today shows more snow with snow levels rising to 2,400m (7,900 ft) before dropping back down to 1,800m (5,900ft) tomorrow.  All the while, it’ll continue snowing as storm Roland passes through and storm Schorsch moves in with a new cold front.

A bit of winter snowpack may begin to form on north faces on glacier.  We’ll see.  Either way, it appears that higher elevations will see a good amount of snow this week.  As the sun’s angle drops each day, winter is trying to make its move into the alps.
