Homewood ski resort & Donner Ski Ranch in Lake Tahoe, CA announced that they’ve closed all of their chairlifts this week due to a major lack of snow.  Homewood & Donner Ski Ranch are the 8th & 9th West Coast ski resorts to close mid-season this winter. Homewood & Donner will remain closed until more sow falls from the sky.  Most California weather forecasters don’t expect any snow to fall for the next two weeks, and maybe longer.

Homewood & Donner Ski Ranch join 7 other closed West Coast ski resorts this winter.  Dodge Ridge CA, Badger Pass CA, Mt. Shasta Snow Park CA, Mt. Ashland OR, Willamette Pass OR, Hoodoo OR, and Eagle Crest AK have already closed mid-season due to a lack of snow.

Due to conditions, operations on Homewood’s upper mountain will be on a temporary hold until further notice. The North Lodge Surface lifts will be running today and we will be offering ski and snowboard lessons in our beginner area via the Happy Platter and North Carpet. We will be suspending our Free Intermediate/ Advanced Lesson program until further notice. Stay tuned to our Facebook for updates throughout the season. – Homewood ski resort

Homewood is one of Lake Tahoe’s favorite ski resort.  Homewood is famous for excellent tree skiing, staying open during violent storms that close bigger resorts, and the most spectacular views of Lake Tahoe.

Donner Ski Ranch is a great, family friendly ski resort on Donner Pass that usually gets a ton of snow.

We’re praying for snow for the West Coast to get these 8 ski resorts back open ASAP.

Donner Ski Ranch will be closed this week due to the warm, snow-free weather impacting the Sierra Nevada. We will re-group and try our best to re-open the slopes Saturday, January 31. Stay tuned for the most up-to-date information. Thank you! – Donner Ski Ranch

  1. Your title is misleading, Homewood is not fully closed, as you state later on in this article there are beginner lifts open. Crappy journalism, misleading titles should be left to the gossip story’s of hollywood.

    1. Hey Caleb, thanks for the note. Homewood’s baby rope tow and magic carpet are open. All of homewood’s chairlifts are closed. thanks again.

  2. Homewood is not closed. The beginner terrain is still open. The upper mountain is on hold until snow conditions improve.
