I drove to Jackson, WY from Squaw Valley, CA with professional freeskier Connery Lundin yesterday (Connery is real good at skiing, see video above).  The drive was easy in his roomy pickup.

We saw the rain coming to Tahoe and the snow coming to Jackson and we bailed…

This morning, we felt rewarded for the effort.  Soft snow all over the mountain, plenty of fresh spots, big wind, no crowds, and good friends defined the day today.

Jackson Hole reported 3″ of new snow this morning.  The weather was mostly snowy with some short stints of sun.  The temperatures were warm with a high at the base around 32ºF.  Snow up high was wind buffed, dense and fun.  Snow down low was hot pow.  The winds were mellow to start the day.  The day ended with howling winds and most lifts closing down.

We never rode the tram today.  We took the Bridger Gondola up to Thunder and cranked laps up there before taking Sublette Ridge back to the bottom and heading back up again.  We hit the Hobacks to end the day and they were wind buffed out and delicious.

Lunch at the Cablesouth cafe was damn good with $3 PBR tallboys and $4.5 pizza slices.

The day ended with the Tram and Thunder closing due to strong winds.  Sublette never opened today due to strong winds.

Tomorrow is gonna be damn good.

I’m very fired up to have moved back to Jackson, WY.  This place is special.
