Lake Tahoe’s Highest Ski Resort Plans to OPEN Next Week!

Mt. Rose ski resort in Lake Tahoe, NV is currently planning on opening next week on Thursday, October 29th, 2015.  If they can get open on that date, they’ll be the first ski resort open on the West Coast this winter.

Mt. Rose has the higest elevation base of any ski resort in Lake Tahoe at 8,00-feet. Rose almost never gets rain, which may very well be key in this warm El Nino year.

The forecast is calling for temperatures below freezing for the next week and Mt. Rose snowmakers plan to get their snow guns blazing.

Mt. Rose hopes to open the Flying Jenny lift next week that will access two trails.

The only problem we see right now is that the temperatures are forecast to be way above freezing at 9,650-feet on Mt. Rose the next 5 days…

  1. They’ll now open Wednesday Nov 4. 1 to 2 feet of snowfall today will help!

The Chutes in the photo won’t be open for months.
