I skied Mammoth Mountain today, solo.

I rode Chair 23 for an hour without seeing nor hearing another snow slider.

There were 2-4 inches of new, wet snow on top of a soft under layer.

You could go fast.  You could speed check.  The skiing was fun.

The ski day began with cloud and sun.  The ski day ended completely socked in and snowing.

At 1:04pm, thunder began to clap loudly to the north.  It got closer every run.

At 1:18pm, they closed the mountain.  The thunderstorm was approaching.

Since closing, it hasn’t stopped snowing.

  1. Its depressing looking at Main lodge. There’s always snow up top though. And you can fish, soak, bike, or do a hke/ski somewhere.

  2. Was there just over a week ago. MMSA will easily make Memorial Day as they hoped.
    Too bad we did not have the current winter weather at Tahoe in March or April
