Some wet weather is on the way beginning Friday afternoon and evening continuing through Sunday early afternoon. Generally, 0.25-0.5 inches of rain is expected across Western Nevada while up to inch of rain for portions of the Sierra. Snow levels will be rather high starting around 9000 feet dropping periodically down to 7500 feet. The highest passes could become slick at times, but major issues are not expected.

Expect area lakes and rivers to rise as rain falls over the snowpack allowing for extra runoff in addition to the precipitation that will fall. Lake Tahoe is forecast to reach its rim spilling water into the Truckee River. Also, the West Fork of the Carson River at Woodfords will become swollen with snow-melt and rainfall. There is a possibility that the river will reach action stage, but it is not likely that it will approach flood stage.” – NOAA Reno, NV today
