The Chugach Range in Alaska got over a foot of fresh snow above 5,000-feet in spots yesterday.  The Wrangell Mountains got a healthy dose of snow as well this week.

Winter has officially begun in the great state of Alaska.

“Yesterday we found over a foot of fresh snow above 5000′ in the Crow Pass area. Given current temps and precipitation it’s probably snowing again up high. If you are tempted to check out the snow after this storm clears be sure to carry your ave gear.” – Frends of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center
