After buying bought Park City for $182.5 million, Vail is now now connecting Park City to The Canyons (which Vail already runs) to create the largest ski resort in the USA at 7,300+ acres.  The new ski resort will simply be called “Park City” but the old canyons infinity symbol will live next to the name in the logo.

Vail is building a brand new 8-person gondola connecting the two resorts as well as building a upgrading the King Con Express from a quad to a 6-pack and a upgrading the Motherlode Express fixed grip triple chairto a detachable quad this summer.

Vail also just bought the largest ski resort in Australia, Perisher, this year for a cool $319 million bringing their ski resort ownership to a total of 12.  Vail owns 12 ski resorts.  The age of Vail is upon us…

Easy math. Park City + The Canyons = 7,300 acres.

Park City is very likely to start dominating the american ski resort/ski town scene.  Not only do they have the biggest ski resort in the USA, but they also have Deer Valley in town and Park City is only 35 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Park City will be the first ever European style ski town where you can spend all day skiing from one side of Park City to the other.

AND if you think this is the end of the expansion of Park City, you’re crazy.  In ten to twenty years from now, you won’t even be able to recognize this place.  According to the above map published by the Park Record newspaper, there are over 5 million square feet of development rights at the Canyons alone!  Park City ski resort has another 700,000 square feet of development rights at the base of their resort.

The new Park City’s statistics are impressive:

7,300 acres, 17 peaks, 300+ trails, 38 lifts

“Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort have combined to create the largest single ski and snowboard resort in the United States. A new 8 passenger gondola connection, along with the new King Con Express six-pack and Motherlode Express Quad make up just some of the improvements totaling over $50 million for the 2015-16 season. With over 7,300 acres, 300+ trails, 38 lifts, seven terrain parks, six natural half pipes, one super pipe and one mini pipe, plus many diverse ski-in/ski-out and village adjacent lodging properties, Park City is an easily accessible, world-class mountain destination located in an authentic and historic western town.

There is only one largest resort in the United States

There is only one mountain uniting 17 peaks of unmatched possibility.

There is only one legendary ski town.

There is only one place you are meant to be.

There is only one. Park City.” – Vail
