Snowbasin Resort: This past Saturday Ski Patrol at Snowbasin Resort found the body of 24-year-old Ryan Roberts of Ogden, Utah. Roberts had been skiing inbounds when he apparently collided with a tree. There were no reported witnesses.

Just after 1:00 pm the Snowbasin Ski Patrol came across Roberts. According to Weber County sheriff’s Lt. Nate Hutchinson, patrol called for a helicopter, but heavy fog along with an inversion thwarted this rescue attempt. Instead ski patrol had to carry him down to a waiting ambulance.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the hospital.

This is the season’s second casualty tied to a tree collision.  Just two weeks ago a 48-year-old Colorado man died on an advanced slope at Breckenridge Ski Resort after colliding with a tree while skiing.
