STORY: Getting Your Crampons Stolen in the “Death Zone” on K2… & That’s Just The Beginning…

CragBrains |

This guy summited K2, the 2nd highest mountain on Earth and the hardest mountain to climb in the world, in 2007 and made it back to High Camp after 23 hours of climbing.

When he arrived back at high camp at 26,000-feet (the Death Zone), he found an emaciated climber passed out in the snow.  He and his climbing partners dragged the injured climber into their tent.  Just then, a huge storm hit.

In the morning, the camp was buried in snow and someone had stolen his crampons…

It just gets crazier and crazier from there.

You’ve got to listen to this story.  Don is one helluva storyteller.
