As I drove out to Sugar Bowl from Tahoe City on Sunday morning, I knew I had made the right call. The traffic on 89 heading into Squaw and Alpine looked quite stressful while and the mellow drive to Sugar Bowl via old 40 was peaceful and scenic. As expected, the crowds were very manageable and the longest wait for a chair all day wasn’t even 5 minutes. This makes going bell to bell a bit more challenging…

There was totally fresh snow on the Judah side and under Crow’s peak as those chairs didn’t spin on Saturday. It was my first time on the Crow’s Peak chair and I just got a really peaceful vibe out there, almost like I wasn’t in a ski resort.

Sugar Bowl received a total of 24″ from the storm and there was plenty of wintery snow to be found all around the mountain. Some of our best runs were in The Other One off of Crow’s Peak, The ’58, and Eagle/Avalanche. The coverage up top is great right now. Lower down, there were a few buried treasures, but things got more visible as the powder was packed down.

With more snow on the way today and cold temps tomorrow, there should be plenty more wintery skiing to be had!
