When evaluating a ski area, it’s important to factor in the number of lifts that the resort has because that number influences the time that you will spend in line, the terrain that you can shred, and the number of other skiers that you will encounter on the mountain. Chairlifts allow skiers and snowboarders to interact with other enthusiasts and even allows them to strike up a conversation with those of the opposite sex. We have provided a list of the nine ski areas in North America that have the most lifts.

  1. Make a comparison to Europe. None of these are even in the top 20.

Once again a demonstration of the overreach of America’s enviroMENTALists.

  2. Copper 23 lifts. Including four conveyors mostly used for teaching. One conveyor used for tubing or skiing ‘home’ at the end of the day. One 1972(?) vintage platter that is rarely in operation. They recently added another platter lift that moves at 1970 speed and is only about 400 feet long. Lucky beginners will get to use the newest lift next winter since they are replacing a vintage slow-fixed-triple with a HS Quad. Oh’ one of the newest lifts in the count is a long conveyor that is only used for summer camp terrain park. The lifts that serve the best expert terrain are all old fixed grip doubles or triples. They keep talking about future lifts. When will the future get here?

  3. park City may have 38 lights but only 3 even count and the best one, Jupiter is an old double. 9990, McConkeys & Jupiter

  4. Squaw should not be included in this list as they only run half their lifts on any given day. Kiddie carpets and shuttle busses don’t count either.
