VIDEO: John Shocklee Never Grows Up in “A Fairy Tale”

Matias Ricci |

John Shocklee is 52 years old. But when he is on the mountain, with his skis on, he seems to be in his mid-twenties. Above of his big, frozen beard -which hides his smile-, John has a kindergarten pair of eyes. He physically feels young, and finds himself surrounded by younger people. He is a mountain guide from Silverton, CO, and lives in a tiny, simple place. He doesn’t care about money. He doesn’t have telephone, or credit cards. He just lives, and skis, which is his biggest passion. He loves skiing more than anything ese in the world.

“It’s more the combination of lifestyle, doing something that you’re passionate about along with physical activity. That combo is the fountain of youth. But you know in terms of my diet, I do eat a lot of calories. I imagine I’m close to the 4500 [calories] a day as a base. So really everything I see is what I eat. Then obviously dessert every day”.
