Just last Wednesday, May 18th, was the 36th anniversary of the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption.

1980 Mount St. Helens eruption:

  • 57 people killed
  • 80,000-foot tall ash column deposited ash in 11 states
  • Hundreds of square miles were turned into wasteland
  • $3 billion in damages
