Squaw Valley first opened its doors on Thanksgiving Day in 1949 and since then, it has been setting standards for ski areas throughout the US. When the resort first hosted the Olympics, it had only one chairlift and lodging for 50 people. Throughout the years, events such as the World Cup and Olympics have brought attention to the resort that has made it what it is today. The resort will continue to grow and prosper as more events are held there.
