Some fast and fun new snow on the hill.

Whistler continues its winter streak with 40cm over the World Ski and Snowboard Festival week, and more snow in the forecast this week.  In case you have not heard, Whistler has had an unreal winter this year and it still does not seem to be done with us yet.

Sunday on the hill had about 3cm of new snow in the alpine but it had been snowing for most of the week so everywhere in the upper mountain was very soft and predictable.  Although it was crowded in the village and at the lodges, the mountain was fairly empty for a normal weekend.  This was probably because of all of the events happening throughout Whistler breaking up the crowds.

Chimney
Chimney had some of the best turns of the day even at 2pm.

The skiing was great on Sunday.  There were fresh tracks throughout Spankey’s and Glacier chair.  The snow was soft, fast, and you could definitely feel the left over tracks from previous days, but they were very forgiving.

It will be snowing throughout this next week up until about Friday so you can expect some more awesome conditions for next weekend.  In the backcountry things have seemed to mellow out compared to earlier this season, but you can expect issues to come with a warming snowpack.  Watch out for large cornices and as always play safe out there.  Enjoy the Spring!
