After a rainy June and July, Summer has arrived here in Whistler!

It was like our own private mountain this weekend, as the Ironman Canada Triathlon caused many road closures on Sunday. The result was almost ZERO lift lines all weekend, even on the lower mountain!

The trails are drying out, especially down low. Lower A-line (tech), Family Cross, Lower Canadian Open are in full summer condition. However, plenty of tacky dirt awaits from mid-Fitsimmons all the way up to Top of The World!

In Deep, Fatcrobat, Goats Gully, D1, Original Sin, and BC’s trail are just a few of the trails with perfectly tacky dirt right now. The mud has turned to perfect tacky Whistler dirt and now is the time to ride the steeps.

Last weeks Phat Wednesday race took place on Upper A-Line, After Atlantis, Crabapple Turns, World Cup Singletrack, B-Line. The mellow track was a fast and fun one. No racing this week, next one is August 3rd. Crankworx is coming August 12-21!

Trail Work:

  • Freight Train has opened from the container jump, but the lower section is still closed. Eagerly awaiting the re-opening.
  • Watch out at the end of Original Sin, looks like a mega-hip is under construction!
  • Fun new ending for Canadian Open, lots of big step-downs.
  • Trail work after the rock wallride on Blue Velvet.
