10-17″ of Snow Forecast for Alta, UT Today

Utah is about to have it’s go with the storm that just dropped up to 2-feet of snow in Lake Tahoe.  

NOAA is currently forecasting 10-17″ of snow for Little Cottonwood Canyon (Snowbird and Alta) today.

Alta has gotten 265″ of snowfall this season and has a 69″ base.

* AFFECTED AREA...THE WASATCH AND WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAINS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...GENERALLY 5 TO 9 INCHES WITH LOCALLY
  HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL REMAIN LOCALLY HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH THE
  THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE TAPERING TO SHOWERS THIS EVENING.

* IMPACTS...PERIODS OF HEAVIER SNOW WILL INTERMITTENTLY IMPACT
  TRAVEL ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS THROUGH THIS EVENING.
