At the remarkable age of 100, Toronto-born skier Gordon Precious recently ventured to the Canadian West to heli-ski, celebrating his centennial year. The adventure took place at CMH Cariboos, located in the scenic Cariboo Mountains of British Columbia, where Precious previously set the Guinness World Record as the oldest heli-skier at the age of 94 in 2019. Accompanied by his partner, Tracy, grandson, Trevor, and neighbor, Charles, the centenarian once again demonstrated his enduring passion for skiing.

A World War II veteran, Precious has been skiing since his youth, a passion that has taken him across North America, Europe, and Asia. Reflecting on his lifelong love of the sport, he shared in an interview with CMH, “I love the incredible scenery and being outdoors. And I just love skiing.” In preparation for his heli-skiing adventure, Precious stayed active by working out two to three times a week and practicing at his home ski hill, Glen Eden in Ontario. He used to love mountain biking but has since given it up. In addition, his other secret for staying in top shape is taking the stairs.

Precious’s historic run took place on April 24, 2025, when he skied down a run named Zillmer after a careful setup by the guiding team to ensure safe and optimal conditions with perfect visibility. As he started down the slope cautiously, his instinctive fluidity, a hallmark of a seasoned skier, and his 40 years of heli-skiing experience soon kicked in, impressing onlookers who witnessed the feat. Although not officially recorded by Guinness World Records this time, Precious is likely the worldโ€™s oldest heli-skier, making history once again.

After the exhilarating day on the mountain, Precious, who will be 101 within a month, entertained guests and staff at CMH Cariboos with his signature magic tricks, showcasing his spirited personality. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “My life has been full of adventure. I’m in heaven on earth.” From skiing in Iran to driving from Ontario to Chile in a Jeep just to ski, his stories are a testament to a life lived with a passion for exploration. His journey is a vivid reminder that the thrill of adventure is not confined by age but embraced by those who remain willing to chase it.
