According to BBC, a 12-year-old boy died at a French Ski Resort after he got lost and fell off a cliff outside the ski area. The boy, his 10-year-old brother, 6-year-old sister, and father rode up the chairlift together Saturday afternoon at Avoriaz Ski Resort in France. The boys’ father and sister went down a slope, while they ventured down on their own. The pair ended up getting lost and ventured off-piste. They took off their skis and entered a forest, where they fell off of a 500ft cliff.

After failing to return to the resort, the boys’ father alerted authorities. Rescuers located their skis by the mountain road. They followed their footsteps and located them below a 500ft cliff around 4:00am on Sunday. The 12-year-old boy died as a result of the fall, but his 10-year-old brother survived after his fall was slowed by tree branches. He is currently being treated for shock and a broken pelvis.
