Winter is fast approaching, and ski film trailers are appearing.  There’s no better way to welcome winter than gathering for a ski film while we wait for the snow to fall.  We’ve seen more trailers pop up as the season draws closer, including ones from Tanner Hall, Warren Miller, and more.  Here’s some flicks we can to look forward to this season.

#1 ALL IN by Matchstick Productions

Directed by Scott Gaffney, ALL IN is a must see ski film this fall.  Matchstick Productions will live up to it’s history of epic ski movies with this one.  They are known for films such as Sick Sense (1998), Claim (2008) and The Way I See It (2010).  MSP has been in the ski film circuit for over two decades and always offers an exciting look into the world of skiing.

Not only do they work with some of the most talented skiers out there, this movie is packed with some hard-charging females.  In a world where guys usually compile most of the cast, this film happens to feature as many women as men.

As always, this MSP film will be full of action packed skiing, beautiful destinations, and their iconic humor sprinkled throughout.  Locations include British Columbia, Alaska, Utah, Washington, Japan and South America.

Athletes: Angel Collinson, Michelle Parker, Tatum Monod, Elyse Saugstad, Mark Abma, Wiley Miller, Johnny Collinson, and Cody Townsend.

“ALL IN is a reference to the commitment the athletes have to their sport while simultaneously alluding to the inclusionary nature of skiing.” – MSP

#2 HOJI by Matchstick Productions

Anyone who has seen this guy ski would agree he deserves his own movie.  Known for his fast, fluid style and extraordinary pillow lines, Eric Hjorleifson has been part of the MSP family for years and continuously provides major segments in their movies.

“He chases storms.  He ditches his cell phone for weeks at a time.  His exploits are rarely flaunted on social media. In spite of all of this – or maybe because of it – he is a hero to legions of skiers across the globe. This is who Eric is – this is “HOJI.”- MSP

Athletes: Eric Hjorleifson, Chris Rubens, James Heim and more.

“Following nearly two decades of ski movie pedigree, Level 1 documents a lifestyle of contradiction. Timeless ephemera. Love and money. Natural and synthetic. Powder and slush. Stagnant and innovative. Untracked and well-travelled. Consistent but not predictable. Swerving left, right and diagonal, yet never asleep at the wheel.” – Level 1

#10 Cloudy Skies by Arttu Heikkinen

It never fails that Finnish skiers provide us with mind bending, creative, urban skiing.  In a place where skiing is only for those willing to shovel a landing together, these guys don’t think twice.  Shout out to those who ski in places you would never imagine.

“Skiing with your friends.  Finding new perspectives. Trying to be creative, unique, visual.  And putting the pieces together.” – TSSB

#11 Sound of Silence by Woop Productions

Born severely deaf, Robin Gillon was excluded, bullied, and ostracized throughout his life.  He was able to find purpose in life through skiing in an otherwise lonely world.  His story shows us how powerful the freedom of skiing can be.   Check out his incredible story this fall.

Athletes: Robin Gillon

#12 Somewhere by Follow Fellas

The Road West Traveled is a crew of Colorado backcountry skiers who have teamed up to document the lost ski areas in their home state.  They set out to explore abandoned ski areas and find the truth behind what made these places into ghost towns.  What they find reveals the impact that mega resorts and climate change have had on these independent resorts.

“The Road West Traveled uncovers what it’s like to be a skier in Colorado’s backcountry and what it means to go from lost, to found.”

Alright folks, get the popcorn ready, and get inspired.  Whether you catch a big movie premier or just snuggle up in your own living room, watching ski films is part of who we are as skiers and riders.  Thanks to all the production crews, big and small, for showing us the creativity that exists out there!
