The Beast is feeling a bit under the weather, and lifts will not spin this weekend” – Killington,VT yesterday
This weekend, none of those ski resorts are open after a big warm up rain event that likely washed most their fake snow away. Well, actually, Sunday River hasn’t thrown in the towel just yet on this weekend… They’re saying that they’ll let us know by this evening if they think they’ll be able to get open this weekend. We hope so.
“Oh yes, we have our sights on this weekend. The warm weather that came through this week is starting to take a hike and a drier, winter-like chill is working its way back into the air. Tomorrow evening, temps should be back in the snowmaking zone. When that happens, we’ll fire up the guns and work our magic on the hill. Check back here Friday afternoon for an update on opening. We can’t make any promises either way until we hear from mountain ops tomorrow, but that gang of pros is really good at what they do and they are stubborn. Right now, they are not ready to give up on our weekend plans for skiing and snowboarding. No sir. No ma’am.” – Sunday River yesterday
Luckily, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado both opened up yesterday and will both be open daily into May and likely even longer. Both Loveland and A-Basin got about 3″ of snow last night, it’s currently snowing right now, and up to 2 more inches of snow are forecast for today.
