2 Blackhawk Helicopters Crash in Mineral Basin at Snowbird Ski Resort, UT

“We can confirm that two Utah National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters were involved in a training accident at approx. 9:30 a.m. near Mineral Basin [at Snowbird Ski Resort, UT]. No crew members were injured in the accident. Both UH-60s were damaged. The incident is under investigation.” Utah National Guard via Twitter

According to the Utah National Guard, 2 Utah National Guard helicopters have crashed in Mineral Basin at Snowbird ski resort in Utah.

The crash occurred at 9:30am today.

“Hopefully everyone is ok – it flipped on landing maybe because of blowing snow obscuring landing area. Blade flew quite a ways into the trees.” – Jani Radebaugh via Twitter

 

Lots of skiers and riders witnessed the crash.

We have video below via @LifterMike93 that shows the 2 helicopters approaching the base of the Mineral Basin chairlift before they crashed.

Today’s Blackhawk helicopter crash comes about 1 year after 2 similar Blackhawk helicopter crashes.

In January 2021, a UH-60 Blackhawk crashed during a training exercise and killed 3 in New York state.

In February 2021, a UH-60 Blackhawk crash killed 3 in Boise, Idaho.

The Utah National Guard is investigating the incident.
