Two men were injured Monday after falling from the Mountaintop Express Lift (No. 4) at Vail Mountain, according to statements from the resort and reporting from the Vail Daily. A 59-year-old man from Sherman Oaks, California, and a 21-year-old man from Rancho Palos Verdes, California, fell from the high-speed quad and were transported to Vail Health Hospital, Vail Mountain spokesperson Michelle Dallal confirmed in an email shared by the Vail Daily. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Monday’s fall marks the second chairlift-related accident reported in Colorado this season. On November 13, a snowboarder was injured after falling from Keystone Resort’s Montezuma Express lift.
According to The Colorado Sun, 18 chairlift falls were reported to the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board during the 2024-25 ski season, the highest number recorded in recent years. The circumstances surrounding Monday’s fall at Vail remain under investigation.
