Whistler closed for the winter season on June 7th.  Tomorrow, they open back up for a month of glacier skiing on the Hortsman Glacier.  Whistler just made waves by announcing that they’ll be performing snowmaking on the Hortsman this summer to attempt to slow down its glacial retreat.

Summer is here and the only two ski resorts open in North America are skiing and riding on glaciers.

Rumors are flying that Timberline Lodge ski resort, the only one open in North America right now, may not make it all the way until September this year due to a lack of snow coverage.  We’ll see how this progresses.  We imagine they’ll at least make it until the end of July.

Ah, Springtime…  Park, pipe, shorts, bikinis, hot tubs, hot springs, ice cream, beer, beer guts, sunglasses, stinky sunscreen, hot dogs, ball caps, sunburns, costumes, and deep powder.

  1. About time somebody said that Timberline won’t make it this year. It already looks like early August up there right now. If they’re lucky, they’ll make it through July.
