Montana and Wyoming have been getting clobbered with winter storm warnings and snow since the middle of the summer! Beartooth Pass and Highway 212 in Montana has been closed several times over the past couple months and now has been closed for the season due to increasingly inclement weather. Grand Targhee, Wyoming received over twenty inches of new snow this past week and plenty of people went powder skiing! (Check out some photos and videos of last weeks powder excursions Grand Targhee Season Started…)

On top of the slight base that has already blanketed Montana and Wyoming, this weekends river of storms should send a fresh coat of white that way. (For more on the pending atmospheric river please see NOAA Atmospheric River…) Expect to view some crazy photos that may look more like mid-winter than mid-autumn in the pending week or so.

Montana and Wyoming are looking like prime acreage to start the season on. With some light snow and pending storms these dates could very well be moved up to start the skiing off sooner!
