GoPro is once again challenging skiers and snowboarders worldwide to showcase their most jaw-dropping runs with the return of its โGoPro Line of The Winterโ contest. The competition, which was started over a decade ago, invites athletes to submit their best single-clip, GoPro-captured descents from the 2025 season, with a total of $120,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. Each month, $5,000 are awarded for menโs ski, womenโs ski, menโs snowboard, and womenโs snowboard line of the month.
Each month, raw video submissions will be reviewed by an elite panel of snow industry judges, with the top lines earning cash awards and a coveted feature on GoProโs social media channelsโreaching an audience of more than 35 million. The contest will culminate in May, when one male and one female winner from both the ski and snowboard categories will be crowned Grand Prize โLine of the Winterโ champions.
Like last year, 2025 GoPro Line of the Winter submissions must be a single, unedited clip, shot on any GoPro camera and captured by the skier or snowboarder themselves. To be eligible, the clip must be submitted to GoPro Awards via the GoPro Quik app or at GoPro.com/Awards. Individuals may submit as many videos as they like, with each video serving as one submission.
From January to April, a panel of industry professionals will select their favorite submissions across four categories: Menโs Ski, Menโs Snowboard, Womenโs Ski, and Womenโs Snowboard. Monthly awardees will earn $5,000 in cash, be featured on GoPro social channels, and be put in the running for the grand prize to be announced in May. Ultimately, two skiers (male and female) and two snowboarders (male and female) will see their lines crowned the GoPro Line of the Winter and be awarded the $10,000 grand prize each.
The competition will be judged by five acclaimed snow industry experts: freeride skiing legend Ingrid Backstrom, decorated snow filmmaker Scott Gaffney, Olympic snowboarder Elena Hight, Out of Collective founder and host Adam Jaber, and gold medalist snowboarder Sage Kotsenburg. Submissions will be evaluated based on athletic performance, video capture quality, and overall “wow” factor.
Last yearโs competition drew nearly 2,000 entries, ultimately awarding six riders a share of the $120,000 prize pool. In addition to the main winners, GoPro Founder and CEO Nick Woodman introduced a surprise โFounderโs Award Winnerโ category, further celebrating standout performances.ย โIt was an incredible experience to take home the top spot in Line of the Winter 2024. It feels amazing to be rewarded for doing my favorite thing in the world: skiing big lines,โ said last seasonโs overall champion, Adriร Millan Pla. โIโll be sending it again in 2025 and hope to go back-to-back.โ
With three days left to get your submission in for the month of February, you better be quick for your chance to win $5,000!
