Stowe Mountain Resort is poised for one of its strongest season kickoffs in recent memory, announcing plans to open more than 50 trails when lifts start spinning Friday. The resort shared on social media on Wednesday that the open terrain will cover more than 20 miles and 225 acres, a substantial early-season offering for the iconic Vermont ski area.

“Opening day this Friday is going to be one for the books. We plan to have over 50 trails open, totaling 20+ miles and 225 acres of terrain!” Stowe shared on Instagram.

On Mount Mansfield, skiers and riders can expect groomed, snowmaking-supported routes including Lord, North Slope, Sunrise and Standard. A variety of natural-snow terrain is also scheduled to open, with favorites such as Nosedive, Hayride, and the resort’s storied Front Four expected to be accessible.

Across the way at Spruce Peak, beginners will find mellow groomed runs on Inspiration along with access to the Carpet Learning area, offering an early chance for new skiers to get on snow.

Stowe said conditions will continue to evolve with weather and snowmaking, but Friday’s lineup marks one of Stowe’s largest terrain openings in recent years.

And just like that, ski season on the East Coast starts off with a bang.
