Tioga Pass, CA & Sonora Pass, CA Will CLOSE Today Due To Incoming Snow

9,945′ Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park, CA and 9,624′ Sonora Pass just north of Yosemite will be closing today at 5pm due to incoming snow.

NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that warns of up to 6″ of snow in the Tioga Pass region.

“⚠️ We have just been notified that two of the Mountain Passes will be closing this afternoon, this is due to anticipated adverse weather this weekend.

SR108 Sonora Pass will close at 3:00PM

SR120W Tioga Pass will close at 5:00PM

Please plan accordingly.” – Caltrans, today

Tioga Pass & Sonora Pass will be reevaluated on Friday.

“Tioga Pass (continuation of Highway 120 through the park) will temporarily close tonight (Thursday, October 19) at 5 pm in anticipation of snow. We will reevaluate the road on Friday.
