Aaron Rice Announces Plan to Skin 2.5 Million Feet in 2015/16

The current record for most vertical feet earned in a year is held by Greg Hill. In 2010 he earned 2 Million vertical feet. On July 9th Aaron Rice announced that he will be trying to beat this record. He plans to start on December 1st, 2015 and end November 30th, 2016. In that time his goal is to ski 2.5 Million Vertical feet.

When asked why he would be attempting to top this record Aaron answered,

“I love backcountry skiing more than most other things and what better way to enjoy it than skiing as much as I can possibly imagine in one year.”

He plans to spend most of the winter in The Wasatch Mountains skiing big and small lines alike, trying to average 10k/day. In the spring he plans to travel around the West in search of the best spring snow. In the summer he will head down to Argentina to ski out of Refugio Frey in Patagonia, Argentina and spend some time skiing the Chilean Volcanoes.
