Adrien Grabinski Might be the Best Skier You’ve Never Heard of

Adrien Grabinski is the ski patrol director and caretaker at Shames Mountain, a tiny ski hill in northwest British Columbia. The mountains, the snow, and the big lines in the Coast Range first captivated him, but the local ski community truly stole his heart. But somehow, despite his demanding responsibilities, the 25-year-old ex-ski racer pushes himself harder than anyone on the mountain. In fact, Grabinski might be The Best Skier You’ve Never Heard Of.

During winter 2023, Stellar Equipment produced and filmed a short documentary film with and about Grabinski at Shames Mountain, Canada’s first non-profit community ski cooperative. The film, “The Best Skier You’ve Never Heard Of” was selected as a finalist at the 2023 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival. It was also chosen for the Banff Film Festival World Tour and instantly became a crowd favourite as it toured globally in 2024, getting shown at more than 1000 screenings.
