Arapahoe Basin ski area in Colorado just got 9″ of new snow and reopened terrain they’d closed for the season.

They reopened Pali, North Glade, North Pole, Willy’s Wide, and East Wall.

Sweet!

“5” new today and 9″ over the last two days. The temperatures stayed cool enough long enough to significantly slow down water flowing through the pack. After some good hard looks at the snow and the instrumentation data, the Snow Safety Team re-opened the Pali and North Glade gates. They also re-opened the Southern half of the East Wall and the North Pole and Willy’s Wide hiking areas. I didn’t get on The Wall (heard it was great fun), but I did take some spins on Pali. You might find this hard to believe, but I thought The Spine and The Face were awesome.
Hard to say how long this will last. The sun is poised to come back with a vengeance on Thursday. There is a reasonable chance these areas will be open Wednesday. Morning conditions will let us know.
These pictures look more like February than May 10.” – Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin COO, yesterday
