Following an unforgettable cold storm that dropped more than 5 feet on all terrain above lake level, the Tahoe Backcountry accessed by Alpenglow Expeditions of Squaw Valley, CA has changed dramatically.

The storm that came in warm and saw snow levels plummet, left us with a right side up snowpack and no bottom. Conditions were surprisingly stable and moderate settlement was observed, making for reasonable backcountry travel albeit challenging trail-breaking.
