Alpine Meadows ski resort in Lake Tahoe, CA will open for the season tomorrow, December 12th, 2014.

Alpine is expecting anywhere from 18-30″ inches of new snow tonight, the night before opening day.  We suppose that they are anticipating dangerous conditions tomorrow at Alpine because they only have the fixed grip double Kangaroo lift scheduled to operate.

On Saturday, however, Alpine plans to open a LOT more.

Kangroo is still fun.  It has a good consistent pitch and race kids use it to train.  But, it’s a short chair and a short run.  It might get a touch crowded as it’s a fixed grip double and the only chair open, so stay patient and remember to have fun.

Squaw might not get open tomorrow at all or not before 11am depending on the wind.  Squaw was completely closed today due to wind and they closed completely on Wednesday at 1:30pm due to high winds.

Make sure to check Squaw/Alpine’s conditions page before making your decision tomorrow morning.  Even more importantly, remember to have fun and be chill.
