Report from January 2nd, 2019
I rolled up to legendary Alta Ski Area, UT at about 10am today.
The weather wasn’t quite as cold today and the sun was shining bright.
I skied a run off the Collins lift that had a fun traverse/sidestep hike to it and the skiing was great.

Chowder, soft bumps, good snow.
On the way up the Collins chair for my 2nd lap, I saw that Mt. Baldy was open and people were skiing down “Main Chute”.
I’d skied Main Chute thrice in late October and I was hooked and couldn’t wait to get up there again.

I ran up Baldy, dropped in with some fun ladies and enjoyed great, soft snow that allowed the chute to be skied a speed from top to bottom.
The top of the chute was a bit more chalky and wind pressed – which was great – then at the first choke about 1/3 down, the snow was just fun, skied up chowder.

Such an amazing run!
If you haven’t skied Main Chute off Baldy, I highly recommend it.
Oh, and the views from the top of Baldy are sublime.
