Report from Wednesday 16th February 2022 and brought to you by Alta Ski Area

This morning offered some great Cowboy Powder (blower powder that fell on groomed slopes) at Alta Ski Area, UT. There was a little dust on crust, but if you stayed on the correct aspect, turns were soft and powdery.

The skiing got better each hour. By the end of the day, the 8″ of new snow had softened a lot of the mountain. It was easy to blow up a turn and experience your first face shot in a month-and-a-half.

This over-producing storm brought winter back to Alta, everyone was smiling from bell to bell.

Today was a sleeper powder day—one that we’ve been dreaming about for the past month-and-a-half and a much-needed reminder of why we call Alta home.
