Located in New Mexico, Angel Fire Resort offers a mix of ski terrain from beginner to expert. This year, the resort grows its offerings with the addition of double black diamond expert terrain for the first time in its 59-year history. Intermediate skiers don’t need to worry; there are also several new blue runs debuting this year. These additions will open up never-before-skied terrain inside the existing boundary lines of the resort.
Angel Fire is introducing seven all-new trails this winter, with their first two double black runs opening alongside a brand-new quad lift. This new chair lift is designed to ease navigation around the mountain. The two new blue runs, named Heaven Sent and Kolfer’s Run, both offer amazing views with a consistent long pitched slope. Three Black runs, Deer Glade (previously known as Bo Glade), Corkscrew, and Grouse Blitz will give advanced skiers more options, but these aren’t the toughest runs on the mountain. Angel Fire is opening two double black runs for the first time in history, giving experts some challenging terrain. The runs are Hell’s Gate and Turbulence. Both names are tied to the feeling that you will get while skiing them. These new runs open up difficult gladed terrain, giving the most expert skier more places to challenge their ability.Â

Coming alongside the new runs is a brand new quad lift named Rake’s Rider, which should ease navigation across the mountain, offering skiers and riders a second way up from the bottom of Southwest Flyer. The new lift will have a length of 3,193 feet and a vertical rise of 932 feet. Rake’s Rider will transport 1,400 riders per hour, making navigation around the mountain much smoother. The lift will also have a total of 13 towers and 85 chairs. Alongside the lift, there is 3,300 feet of new snowmaking pipe, six stick and two TL8 fan guns.Â

Looking beyond the 2025-26 season, Angel Fire plans to add another new chairlift, named Angel Express, which is already under construction and is set to open in the summer of 2026. This new chair will transport guests from the base area to the top of the new Heaven Sent run, carrying up to 1,800 skiers per hour. Angel Express, the new four-person high-speed lift, stretches across 5,342 feet with a vertical rise of 887 feet. The lift will have 15 towers and 56 chairs.Â
These upgrades represent continued investment in Angel Fire Resort, adding brand-new blue and double-black diamond terrain. New lifts this season and next season should bring needed redundancy to the overall lift network, improving navigation around the mountain. We are excited to explore the new intermediate and expert terrain and look forward to discovering what else Angel Fire has in store.Â
