Arapahoe Basin Closing Day Extended to May 17
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, Colorado, has pushed its closing day back once more, announcing Friday it will remain open through May 17 — the resort’s second extension in as many weeks and another chapter in what has been a remarkable late-season run.

How the Season Got Here
A-Basin had originally set May 3 as its closing day, citing a 194-day season that it called the longest in Colorado, even in a historically low snowpack year. A late-season storm cycle then delivered 14 inches of new snow, prompting the resort to extend operations through May 10. Fresh snowfall and high-elevation snowpack have now earned skiers yet another weekend on the mountain.
Arapahoe Basin Closing Day Weekend Hours and Lift Access
The resort will remain closed Monday through Thursday to preserve snow coverage, reopening Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17. Black Mountain Express and the Lenawee Express will spin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Uphill access remains available throughout the week, though users must complete their ascents outside of operating hours on open days.
A-Basin is currently the only ski area in Colorado still running lift operations, and holds the distinction of having the longest ski season in the state this year. The resort opened on October 27.

Terrain, Tickets, and Pass Access
Lift tickets are available for $39 through closing day. Skiers may also access the hill on a 2025-26 A-Basin or Ikon Pass, or purchase a 2026-27 pass and begin using it immediately for the final weekend.
Terrain will be limited. Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express will service primarily intermediate runs. One green-rated trail is available, though the resort has confirmed there is no beginner or learner terrain open at this time.
Arapahoe Basin Closing Day Entertainment and Sales
Live music will run in the base area from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The Chris Bauer Band performs Saturday; the Frisco Funk Collective closes out Sunday. Arapahoe Sports is holding an end-of-season sale with up to 50% off select items.
Despite the extension, A-Basin’s summer season is set to begin as scheduled on July 2, with early-bird pricing currently available for activities including the Via Ferrata and the Summer Pass.
