After squeezing every last turn out of a thin winter, Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, has announced it will close for the 2025–26 season on Sunday, May 3.

The decision brings to an end a season that, despite historically low snowpack across Colorado, still stretched to an impressive 194 days on snow — once again making A-Basin the longest-running ski area in the state. In a winter defined by warm temperatures and limited snowfall, the resort leaned heavily on snow management and timing to extend operations deep into spring.

“With a waning snowpack, Mother Nature has deemed it our time to end our winter,” the resort said in a statement.

The final weekend is set to double as a celebration. Lift tickets have been reduced to $39 through closing day, with live music scheduled in the base area and a slate of end-of-season festivities planned. Performances include Moonstone Quill on Saturday, May 2, and Don Fuego on Sunday, May 3, both from noon to 3 p.m., alongside drink specials and the usual spring skiing traditions.

May at A-Basin has long been synonymous with its “unofficial” themed ski days — events like swimwear laps, denim days, and Star Wars-themed celebrations that draw crowds as much for the atmosphere as the skiing. With the earlier closure cutting those dates short this year, the resort is instead condensing the spirit of those events into one final weekend.

The tone is familiar for A-Basin: part farewell, part party, and entirely dictated by the mountain. Even in a difficult snow year, the resort managed to outlast its competitors, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most resilient operations in the Rockies.
